Letter: I-95 trees don’t cause accidents

We just returned from a 2,300-mile driving trip that took us through South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland,, Delaware, and Pennsylvania.

We enjoyed the beautiful, safe interstate routes (I-26, 77, 81, 70, 80, 99) in all those locations, all with beautifully landscaped medians containing a variety of mature trees. Sometimes the trees were so close together that we could not see traffic in the opposing direction; not only scenic, but also a great shield from headlights at night.

During eight days of traveling, we never saw a tree reach out and pull a vehicle off the road.

The trees on I-95 do not cause accidents — careless, distracted, sleepy, speeding, under-the-influence drivers cause accidents. Potholes and broken pavement cause accidents.
