Letter: Sports stars could fill leadership gap

The recent spate of murders of our police officers seems to be the new normal. Since the country is getting zero leadership from the White House, a possible idea that has not been mentioned is to call on some of our well-known sports personalities to unite in an effort to help stem the tide of further atrocities.

Sports can be a powerful tool to change things because the stars are looked up to, and people who ridicule politicians and other leaders do pay attention to sport stars as being heroes.

I feel that this is an idea that should be thoroughly pursued. It certainly can’t make things any worse than they are now and looks like it will continue.
