Letter: Gun restrictions do not work
Several recent letters have been sarcastic and emotional diatribes casting aspersions on citizen gun possession. Persons are restricted about gun possession in Chicago to a greater extent than almost any other city, but USA Today reports the murder rate in Chicago has soared 72 percent in 2016. Are we seriously thinking more gun restrictions creating more Chicago-like results is a wise strategy? When Chicago becomes the model city for safety and civility, let’s have the intellectual dialogue about how to copy its success. In the meantime, we should be wary about advocating gun restrictions that, based on empirical evidence, imperil our citizens even more.
