Letter: Voters must decide Clinton’s case
Hillary Clinton and her surrogates have said her private email system was a mistake. A mistake in her case was poor judgment. What has been completely ignored is how the system was used and the lack of hardened security. The director of the FBI has clearly described how Hillary was extremely careless by using an email system that lacked the security needed to conduct top secret and classified activities.
What is outrageous is how the director of the FBI ignored statutes that applied in this case. Hillary signed a statement including the following:
“I have been advised that the unauthorized disclosure, unauthorized retention, or negligent handling of Sensitive Compartmented Information by me could cause irreparable injury to the United States or be used to advantage by a foreign nation ...”
Her system was unauthorized and the director confirmed Hillary was extremely careless in handling of top secret and classified information. Per the legal statutes, this is a crime. Yet he refused to recommend prosecution because the statute had never been used. He believed administrative sanctions would be more appropriate: loss of job, loss of security clearances, reduction of job level.
Since she isn’t in government anymore, the director decided to let voters decide Hillary’s fate. Before you cast your vote, decide if you want a president who could not qualify for top secret clearance.
