Letter: Gun fanatics endanger everyone

Hey you gun owners out there! I don’t mean most of you, I’m talking about the fanatics who worship the NRA and support like-minded politicians and gun manufacturers.

You gun owners are the most selfish people on earth. You want to buy any gun at any time, with no restrictions. You want to take your gun with you anywhere, day or night, in schools, churches, on the streets. Some of you want everyone to see you carrying a gun so we can all be intimidated. Or you want to hide it so it can go everywhere with you with nobody knowing. Have you forgotten that guns are not just for collections and target shooting — they are weapons of death?

The United States has the highest record of mass shootings and gun violence in the entire world. The original intent of the Second Amendment has been thoroughly perverted, used as an excuse for any and every attack on reasonable gun control legislation.

You are putting the rest of the population, millions of us, men, women and children, at risk of gun violence with your childish obsession with guns.

Every time you block legislators from passing sane legislation to limit access to guns, you are complicit in the murders of innocent people that take place every single day in the United States, including the most horrific to date, the Orlando mass shootings.

Take a look in the mirror and think about it.
