Letter: Trump’s tactics are an American disgrace
I am appalled beyond words by the manner in which Donald Trump has shamelessly exploited a national tragedy for his political purposes, and in the process dragged the 2016 presidential process hopelessly into the mud of personal attacks. There appears to be neither respite nor exit from this escalating situation, which draws disgrace and ridicule upon this great nation. I treasure my citizenship, and imagine my grandparents, who came here for better lives for themselves and their descendants, rolling over in their graves at this spectacle.
All has been dragged down to the lowest level, and the name calling and ad hominem attacks may well continue into November. Nothing is impossible, and I submit that, insane as it may sound, it is possible that unthinkable promises will yet be made by this loose cannon who aspires to be president.
Might the promised acts of a new Trump administration include:
▪ Bringing our current president to trial on charges of treason – recent remarks indicate he is seen as having treasonous motives.
▪ Shutting down The Washington Post (Free press, be damned) for having the audacity of being highly critical of him.
▪ Putting forward an outrageous choice for high appointed office. Judge Judy might you be our new Supreme Court justice nominee.
I fear it might be too late, but I hope that those who have given Trump their support can rescind it in the strongest terms.
