Letter: Town is right to help Pine Island beach

Regarding a recent article, kudos to Hilton Head Town Council for voting to support the renourishment the Pine Island beach, owned by Hilton Head Plantation.

Access barriers there are growing more porous now with four public/semi-private golf clubs and at least two restaurants. Try getting beach access with parking in Sea Pines or Port Royal Plantation or at the major beachfront hotels.

A quarter of permanent island residents actually live in Hilton Head Plantation, a fact likely weighed by the council members. It would appear that Mayor David Bennett has been in office just long enough to lose his grasp on common sense, parsing a technicality to come up with his unfortunate negative point of view.
