Letter: Beware of attempts to steal the election

This is one letter that should not have to be written. Unfortunately, past voting practices, especially by the Democratic Party, requires it. It is also a message to the Republican leadership in each state and in Washington, D.C.

In 2012, Florida Republican Allen West lost his U.S. Congressional seat to a Democrat in districts where considerably more votes were cast than there were registered voters. The same thing happened in several districts in Ohio and other states.

In many Philadelphia districts, not a single vote was cast for Mitt Romney — a statistical impossibility. In 1960, John F. Kennedy won the state of Illinois and thereby the presidential election by nefarious means. These are just a few of many examples.

Fortunately, the Republican leadership in the 2000 presidential election found their backbone and legally challenged the Democratic establishment’s attempt to cherry pick Florida counties to recount. The result was that the Supreme Court ruled that to be unconstitutional.

In the same election, 5 percent of the punched ballots in Palm Beach County, Fla., were spoiled. Again, that is impossible since the average, even in counties with many seniors, is less than 0.5 percent. And, oddly, those spoiled ballots disappeared. This story was as op-ed in the Wall Street Journal but was ignored.

Beware, it will happen again unless we and the Republican National Convention stop it. For starters, we can help by working as poll watchers at the polls on Nov. 4.
