Letter: More attention to D-Day

June 6 is recognized all over Europe, Canada and the USA as a memorial to the thousands of Allied troops who gave their lives in the D-Day invasion of France and the start of the fight to free Europe.

Most of the media throughout America honors this day with extensive coverage of all the D-Day memorials. However, this newspaper, that I have always considered to be a true mirror of the community, decided to fill the front page with a vague report of the fact that the state ethics committee had once again failed to reach an agreement on what its purpose might be.

I had to turn to a center page to find any mention of D-Day. Remembering the price that was paid to achieve success in the liberation of Europe by American forces I feel your coverage could have been a lot more extensive.
