Letter: Voters face awful choice

Stepping into the voting booth in November will be like entering a porta-potty. Voters should hold their nose while voting.

One choice will be a corrupt, potentially criminal violator of federal laws and the other choice an arrogant, schoolyard bully with an oversized ego. The only good news from the primary process is that voters rejected the fringe candidates — Bernie Sanders, who went to the Soviet Union on his honeymoon and never returned mentally; and Ted Cruz, who is so far right he cannot get along even within his own party. Both had no accomplishments in the Senate.

Despite the smell, good citizens should make a choice and vote. After all, illegal aliens, tombstones and convicted felons will be voting again in some cities and states without photo ID requirements. This year we will again have fraudulent voters who could not board an aircraft but can vote.

Democrats will run using the latest form of political corruption — promising all elements of society free handouts by a bloated and incompetent federal government using taxpayer and borrowed money.

For Republicans, it will be the usual theme that tax cuts are the answer to every problem.

No one will acknowledge that the nation is going bankrupt with growing deficits and debt. This blind attempt to escape from reality will continue for yet another election cycle.

As members of both the silent and baby boomer generations, we have failed our children and grandchildren and continue to mortgage their future and the American dream. Shame on us.
