Letter: Trump hit with double standard

For the record, Donald Trump was not my candidate during the South Carolina primary. But your May 18 editorial page left me amazed at the double standard and bias against Donald Trump.

From the editorial page, we read, “Trump has embraced a belligerent form of authoritarianism that should have no place in a healthy democracy.” And, “But Donald Trump is not some noble figure coming forth to revive democracy and restore the primacy of ‘we the people’ in a cocooned capital. He is a toxic avenger, full of grievances and eager to act upon them, mocking and bullying anyone who gets in his way.”

Certainly, we have never seen the likes of Donald Trump, have we? How about this from Trump:

“We are not just going to be waiting for legislation in order to make sure that we’re providing Americans the kind of help they need. I’ve got a pen, and I’ve got a phone. And I can use that pen to sign executive orders and take executive actions and administrative actions.”

Obama has bypassed Congress over and over. Rather than progressing, we have descended back into racial divides when many thought electing a black president would help move us forward. Instead, this bully and community organizer with a chip on his shoulder has used his pen and phone to bring about his own agenda. Hillary Clinton will just be a continuation of the last eight years.
