Letter: Community’s potential lies in its people
Last week I took my oath of office as the Hilton Head Island Town Council representative of Ward 3. I would like to thank all those who supported me with their votes and their contributions to my campaign, and especially, to those who gave so much time to get out the vote.
The campaign introduced me to good people whom I had not met and reunited me with friends I have known for years. They reconfirmed for me that the potential of this community lies in its people and their genuine desire to make this an even better community for all its citizens.
I would also like to acknowledge and congratulate the other candidates who offered to serve despite the sacrifices they would have had to make in their professional and personal lives. Of course, I appreciate The Island Packet’s endorsement and hope to prove I am worthy of it.
Finally, I would like to thank the six other council members and town staff members who so graciously welcomed me. I am humbled by the vote results and sincerely thank the community for its well wishes.
