Letter: Fix the light at Spanish Moss Trail
The newly installed red and yellow light at Robert Smalls Parkway for the Spanish Moss Trail is not working correctly and is unsafe for riders/pedestrians as well as motorists.
The problem is that it’s really not a stop-and-go light (no green signal). As a rider I have had cars blast through this light as if it’s not there. As a driver, I have seen drivers decide to proceed through the red, assuming that there is no one crossing. So is that OK to run that red light?
Someone will get hit before long and then there will be focus on making this a real stop-and-go light with red, green and yellow. The city of Beaufort should be proactive in fixing this bad situation.
