Letter: All-or-nothing bad on sales tax ballot
I am writing to thank Felix Lowe for his letter to the editor that appeared in the May 22 edition (“Offer voters ‘line-item veto’ on sales tax plans”). I could have written the letter myself.
I find this method of funding to be borderline insanity, using a “take it or leave it” approach in voting or not voting for an entire basket of goodies. Image going into a candy store and having the clerk tell you that your only choice is to buy an entire selection of candies that somebody else has already decided are the ones you should have. Never mind that you don’t like them and can’t afford all of them.
Worse than that, some of the candy that you don’t like and won’t eat will, at your expense, be eaten by those who chose the candy. What a system.
