Letter: Trump would be unforgivable disaster

I am not a member of the Republican Party, but if I were, I’d be ashamed of the party’s exhibition of moral decay that may unravel the fabric of the United States, if Donald Trump is elected as our next president.

Trump’s lack of qualifications has been well documented over the last eight months. His lack of understanding of foreign affairs, the economy, the law, how Congress operates, national security, and the U.S. Constitution, is monumental.

Prior to Trump’s presumptive nomination as the Republican candidate, most Republican politicians did not consider him as a viable candidate. Now that his presumptive win as the candidate is likely, Republicans are “jumping on the band wagon” in droves, with very little regard to the future of the our country if Trump manages to become our next president. At least nine House committee chairmen in the now support Trump.

In our own state of South Carolina the following support Trump:

U.S. Sen. Tim Scott, U.S. Rep. Mark Sanford, Rep. Jeff Duncan, Rep. Trey Gowdy, Rep. Mike Mulvaney, and Rep. Tom Rice. Rep. Joe Wilson is undecided. Sen. Lindsey Graham is the only Republican that cannot and will not support Donald Trump.

The nomination and election of Donald Trump to the presidency of the United States would be an unforgivable disaster.
