Letter: Stop the loud jets
Is the loud noise from the new Marine Corps fighter jet effecting the bird population?
I noticed that the usual spring songbirds around our house aren’t showing up this year.
Then I remembered that this year an unbearable health hazard of the new noise source from jets flying over our town has been taking place. I did a quick Internet search of the possibility of a correlation and found a report quoting hundreds of studies that have been done on this phenomenon.
Disregarding the effects this noise pollution health hazard is having on our local bird population, let’s start thinking about us humans. This is literally just like the canary in the coal mine. Sound pressure levels of 120dbm have been measured at homes on Lady’s Island from the jets.
Please someone, do something about this.
A website has been created with a petition to stop this (MCASneighbors.org).
There is already law in place that is being disregarded by the military.
Sign the petition to reroute the air traffic to an alternative location.
