Letter: Too many blue lights in Beaufort

It’s with interest I read the articles about a perceived uptick in traffic tickets given in the construction area on Boundary Street entering Beaufort.

First and foremost, this abomination of a project and its attendant $32 million cost should never have been approved. Secondly, I am concerned about safety for construction workers and a supporter of our law enforcement officers.

That being said, and having lived in four areas of the country, I have never seen such aggressive police management as in the city of Beaufort. And, no, I haven’t an ax to grind over a ticket.

Seldom, in going in or out of Beaufort daily, do I fail to see a car stopped by police.

I think the Gazette should do an in-depth examination of how many stops and tickets are issued in comparison to other cities the size of Beaufort.
