Letter: A shining light in a dark world
Among all the political news and mudslinging, and the news of tragedies occuring all over the world both locally and afar, I feel it is important to shine a refreshing light on something good for a change.
I want to congratulate a woman who has made a profound difference in my life on being deservedly promoted to clinic director at Coastal Empire Community Mental Health Center in Beaufort.
Billie Jo Godwin is one of those unnoticed angels unless she has personally touched your life. She goes about her day never suspecting that she may be a light in a life that is otherwise dark. She wakes in the morning to go to her job, never once expecting that someone she only knows in a workplace setting would cry and be broken-hearted with the knowledge that she would no longer be that constant glow of security.
However, she does her best to see her clients through every bad situation imaginable. She does so with the understanding of a mother, the shoulder of a friend, and the ear of the crème de la crème of psychology. The imprint this amazing person has made on my life and those of others she has worked with cannot be duplicated and is treasured beyond imagination.
