Letter: Capitalize on our ‘specialiness’
It is my opinion that the proposed new arts center for Hilton Head Island is a bit short-sighted and perhaps lacks creativity, which is not consistent with the “specialness” that has made us world famous.
It is my thought that an opportunity to include Mitchelville with this arts center, or as the centerpiece and stage of the new arts center, would present opportunities for Hilton Head that rarely exist in any locale.
I can see a theme park at that site, with art the medium for education. Developing this park into its true potential would allow us to create an ongoing, multimedia approach to significant story (stories) of Hilton Head. This would give us an infinite, yet timeless, approach to delivering the story through various forms of art presentations.
Forgive me for thinking outside the box ... but it is consistent with all of the studies and does allow a true claim to “specialness.”
