Letter: Boundary Street project doesn’t add up
Let’s try to put this into reality. The $33 million Boundary Street project in Beaufort will bring in more tourists and eliminate any lost time in making turns or direction changes? That’s a lot of money to be spent by our taxpayers.
Maybe there’s something missing here, like $33 million that could help the homeless, undernourished children, or fix potholes in our side streets or buy law enforcement equipment, etc.
Oh well, it’s only money and this project has been in the works for years. That’s why we have a City Council to decide for us our greatest needs.
I imagine that years from now we will say, “Thank you, City Council, for your foresight in seeing what we really need. Our tourist trade has boomed, and we really didn’t need all of the above items.”
We can look forward to future money well spent by our seers in City Council. They know best, or think they do. I forgot, was there a vote on this?
