Letter: Moss works for best interest of himself

Beaufort County School District Superintendent Jeff Moss states that his manipulation of the district’s nepotism clause, personally lowering the qualifications for a new $90,000 job that enabled his wife to apply and be hired for this job, was lawful, ethical and in the best interest of children.

The facts speak for themselves as to who personally benefited financially from his maneuver.

Not only did he taint himself, but he succeeded in dragging his wife through the mud with him.

Now he finds himself facing a South Carolina Ethics Commission hearing.

His leadership style has caused a citizen monitoring group to form (CARE), a school board chairman to resign, a school board member to refer to community members who question Jeff Moss’s action as “loonies,” and the new board chairwoman to become increasingly uncivil.

Does all this unprofessional bad behavior really reflect a superintendent and school board working in the best interest of children?
