Letter: It’s ‘Nightmare on Boundary Street’
Years ago there was a movie made titled “Nightmare on Elm Street.” Currently a movie is being made in Beaufort titled “Nightmare on Boundary Street.”
All the actors are local citizens with a few unsuspecting tourists thrown into the mix. Yesterday, I was on my way to a meeting and as soon as I turned onto Boundary, I noticed a long, that is to say LONG, line of cars headed west waiting to turn onto S.C. 170 at the light. The line extended two blocks past Applebee’s.
Just past that, in the eastbound side, the inside lane was standing still. A very kind person let me move into the right-hand lane. The left lane was at a standstill all the way to the Kmart entrance.
This is just the start of filming that is projected to take two years. Leaving town and want a Frosty? Sorry, you can’t turn left. Because of the no-left-turn policy now in effect, businesses on “the other side of the street” are going to suffer.
This the biggest waste of tax dollars. What were the city fathers thinking?
