Letter: Trump defies all reason
Donald Trump has been running for the nomination for the presidency for seven months and so far he has not formulated coherent policy positions on any issue.
Like a lot of conservatives, I care about monetary policy, national debt, trade, globalization, pro-life, sane border control, Obamacare, fidelity to the First Amendment and Second Amendment, etc.
Reasonable people would expect he would by now be more than a talking head frequently contradicting earlier statements.
Even on is signature rhetorical refrain, illegal immigration, he has effectively endorsed re-entry of deported immigrants as legal residents through a “big beautiful door.” Why deport them?
Adequate time has elapsed for Trump to figure out “presidential” behavior. I believe if he could, he would.
One characteristic that is omnipresent with Trump is his outlandish vanity. Make America great again is a solicitous platitude that attracts devotees who formulate their own beliefs for what “great” means, since his campaign is bereft of substance.
I wish he were a substantive, thoughtful, candidate guided by core constitutional principles. In reality, we must face it. Trump wings it and speaks on impulse.
The further reality is this country cannot elect someone as president who acts on impulse. Surely sanity, not vanity, will prevail.
