Letter: We deserve what we get

So, as the political battles continue between presidential candidates, one has to ask oneself … will we ever hear the issues important to Americans discussed? Of course not.

After all, how important is the environment, economy, infrastructure and world affairs compared to wives, male genital sizes, ugly women, bigotry, prejudices, assaults, etc.?

And let’s not forget building walls to China. Oh wait, I mean between the U.S. and Mexico. Watch out, Canada, you may be next … not that many Canadians would be crazy enough to want to sneak into the U.S. I’m sure they’re embarrassed enough at the Canadian-born nut running for office. I wonder where the “birthers” are now … still looking at Barack Obama’s birth certificate, no doubt.

Now, lest people think I’m meandering all over the place, I am. That’s what crazy politics does to people. This year’s presidential campaign is as bad as the worst reality show on television. I’d name it, but then I’d probably be sued. After all, that seems to be a common threat one candidate likes to throw up … I mean, out.

I have to say that if there is a God watching all of this, he/she either has a quirky sense of humor or has truly given up on humanity and is letting us determine our own fate, which begs the question: “Is the silent majority silent because they are too embarrassed to speak out, too disgusted at what has become a popular worldwide sitcom, or just ambivalent to politics as usual?”

We deserve what we get.
