Letter: US 278 crossover dangerous
The crossover on U.S. 278 at Eagle’s Pointe is extremely dangerous for drivers trying to turn. It is so poorly designed, I wonder who at the SCDOT designed it.
We were always told to stay to the right. However, this crossover requires us to go to the left lane, making it impossible to see oncoming eastbound traffic if a car, or more than one car, is in the right lane waiting to turn into Eagle’s Pointe.
This happened to me the other day. I was turning left. Two cars and a fire engine that was making a U-turn were in the crossover. I was rendered completely blind to oncoming eastbound traffic.
Will it take a tragic accident for a remedy?
