Letter: Admit it: Radical Islam is the problem

The events in Brussels underline what many have been saying for months, if not years. Namely, that the entire western world is threatened by a virulent, malevolent force called “Radical Islam.”

We can argue forever about whether the entire Muslim faith is to blame because of its failure to denounce the murderous factions among them, but that will do no more good than arguing about how many angels can dance on the head of a pin. It is immaterial.

What is important is that the adherents of the radical interpretation of that social-political-religious belief system want to kill or subjugate anyone who they deem to be a nonbeliever, whether that is an apostate Muslim or an “infidel.” The IED, explosive vest or Kalashnikov kills without discrimination, innocent or (in their sick minds) “guilty” alike. Let Allah sort them out.

We are not the problem, no matter how much the apologists on the left would have you believe that we are. The real problem is a religious belief system trapped in the violent world of the seventh century, but soon to be armed with the most horrific weapons that man has yet been able to devise.

A failure to acknowledge that fundamental truth will lead to unimaginable bloodshed and suffering on a scale not seen since the last two World Wars. We can only hope that finally, the true moderates among the Muslim faithful will make their voices heard.
