Letter: Stop the Boundary Street project

Beaufort Mayor Billy Keyserling and members of City Council really need to take their meant-to-do-well governing selves out to Boundary Street to gauge the unintended consequences of this ruinous project.

The actual median has not been destroyed yet. The project can be modified.

Somebody in power has to have the courage to say that this whole thing is not going to work. Businesses will die. The street may have lots of trees in the middle of the road, but the road will be dead.

What will safety vehicles do to access an accident? Watch what cars and people are already forced to do. Dodge-em cars with real cars, that’s what. Drivers will never be able to enjoy the added Lowcountry ambiance. They will be trying to survive.

City Council can correct this disaster. Try to find five actual commuters or shoppers who like this plan. Please, please, reevaluate.
