Letter: Too much focus on the dogs

Another dead alligator.

We moved into their habitat. We built condominiums, golf courses, and restaurants. We brought our dogs here. We walk our dogs, we pick up their excrement. Dogs, dogs, dogs.

When an alligator does what it was born to do, in its natural environment, we act so surprised and offended.

So now, we can kill and reap this animal’s meat and skull and skin?

Don’t play God!

Is a dog more important than an alligator?

I am furious with these acts of cruelty toward one of the most ancient and majestic of our world’s animals.

But everyone is so focused on their dog.

Remember what we have done to the whale, and the rhinoceros, and the elephant. Remember, and let them live.
