Letter: Local reading problems mind boggling

Rather than the display on Donald Trump, a more eye-catching and appropriate lead article on the March 15 front page of The Beaufort Gazette should have been about the 2,000 local students who are not reading on grade level.

That this applies to elementary school students only is mind boggling. It also begs the question: What are reading levels like at Beaufort County’s middle schools and high schools.
