Letter: Take advantage of early voting
Having worked the polls this year for the Republican and Democratic presidential preference primaries, I have learned several things.
First and foremost, most people who are over the age of 65 do not know that they can vote early/absentee even if they are not going to be out of town. They can avoid lines at the polls and accomplish the exact same result with little or no difficulty. All they have to do is state their age and prove it with their photo ID.
Absentee/early voting is available three weeks before any election at local voting offices open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays. The Bluffton office is at 61-B Ulmer Road. The Beaufort office is at 15 John Galt Road.
The next election will be the statewide primary in June. Absentee/early voting is also available to those individuals who are disabled for any reason. Curbside voting is also available.
If you have recently moved, you must re-register for that new address. It takes little time and saves much time at the polls.
