Letter: Races show big difference in parties

One of your recent op-ed columns brought the difference between the two presidential races into sharp contrast. It made clear again to the reader that the Republican debates are almost devoid of substance, and that their only well-defined policy is to try to undo the president, while trashing each other.

It is not lost on the voters that the Democrats are supporting and promising to extend and improve upon those policies begun by Obama as well as introducing additional ideas to improve conditions for all of us.

Obama has proven that a calm and focused approach to challenges old and new is the way to fulfill campaign promises and hold steady, here and abroad, in turbulent times.

Clinton has proved herself to be intelligent, focused and well able to withstand the onslaughts of her enemies without reducing herself to their level.

Sanders has proven to be ethical in his refusal to commit to politics of personal destruction. They give their constituents the opportunity for thoughtful decision-making. They should be thanked.
