Letter: Senate has important duty on new justice
The United States lost a true conservative constitutionalist with the death of U.S. Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia. It is all the more tragic in that our current president will have the opportunity to nominate another Elena Kagan or a Sonia Sotomayor to the court .
With majority control in the House of Representatives and in the Senate, the Republicans must resolve to approve only a candidate with the very best conservative and strict constitutionalist credentials. To do otherwise will certainly open the door to a very socialistic appointment by President Obama and a tilt of the Supreme Court to a significant leftist (and detrimental) bent.
