Letter: GOP knows how to win campaigns

A recent letter-writer ("GOP voters should mind their own store") apparently knows very little about the strategy employed to win campaigns.

You must first secure your base before moving to expand your ranks. A most effective way to secure your base is to point out the differences in governing philosophies between your candidate and the opposition.

The Beaufort County Republican Party has employed this strategy to win a majority for quite some time, including garnering a 74 percent share of the vote in 2014. We are quite pleased with the strong field of presidential nominees in the Republican Party, but as always, we will let the voters decide who the nominee is.

Meanwhile, the writer gets to decide who the Democrat nominee will be, an admitted socialist or a congenital liar who may be indicted before the convention.
