Letter: Editorial cartoon an unfair depiction

I was extremely disturbed by your cartoon on Jan. 15 regarding support of Bernie Sanders. It strongly suggested the lesbian/gay community supported him so they could reap financial reward from the government. This sentiment could not be further from the truth.

Many of the members of this community are striving and independent members of our society. They do not rely on government handouts. Do they dream of not being disenfranchised? Yes. But not financially supported. Shame on you for portraying them in this manner.
