Letter: Coffin Point reaction seems out of character

Really. What kind of people live out there near Coffin Point and where did they come from? ("Threats, insults follow cutting of dead trees," Jan. 25.)

Thank goodness they are very different from the lovely Beaufort and St. Helena Island people I've known over the years.

I was not born here but have felt nothing but welcome from the local people and organizations I've associated with.

It sounds as if this newcomer was attracted by the natural beauty out in that area and wanted to protect and enhance it. The neighborhood should think twice before chasing away people like that. The next purchaser could be much less mindful of the environment and completely oblivious to the neighbors and their feelings. Perhaps it would serve them right.
