Letter: Library hours show misplaced priorities

It happened again. Yesterday morning, for the umpteenth time, we were on the way to the library when we realized it was Friday. The library will be closed.

As a nation, we are willing to spend billions in Afghanistan and Iraq. We are willing to maintain tens of thousands of troops in Korea and Okinawa for the last 70 years. But we can't afford to keep our libraries open. Or replace failing infrastructure. Or provide clean drinking water to our older cities.

Right track ... wrong track? Which way do you think I respond to that frequently asked question?
