Letter: Substantive leaders drown in sea of hate
How regrettable is the character of the political arena today. Much of what we hear from aspirants to the White House are litanies of high-octane hate.
Saddest of all, however, are the throngs of people happily flocking to hear these counterfeit leaders and giving thumbs-up to their various rants. Why are so many otherwise sane people thirsty to lap up the venom these pretenders to leadership spew forth?
Where is the thirst among voters for candidates of substance who offer substantive leadership? We follow a dangerous path by being dazzled by candidates who do little more that glitter, sparkle, shout, raise clenched fists and tell us who they hate and why we should hate them too. History has witnessed tragic consequences for people who were duped by the demigods.
Don't we want something more than flash, bombast and venom from people who are asking voters to send them to the White House?
