Letter: Free speech is not driving the terrorism

A number of elected leaders, journalists and TV personalities are expounding on how their politically inclined opponents are "assisting in the recruitment of jihadists" by sharing their views on how best to protect the American citizenry.

These leaders and experts blame the escalation of terrorist killings not on the source of those murders, but instead conveniently blame political opponents who are only exercising their First Amendment right, for "providing recruitment sound bites to terrorist groups."

How sophomoric can an entire class of elites get? They want us to believe that exercising free speech alone causes an otherwise peaceful Islamist to turn into a murderous jackal?

Our government's primary duty is to protect our constitutional rights and its borders and citizens from governments and groups that would use force to destroy us. Sorry, Islam, if you can't stomach freedom of speech, you are unable to assimilate into our country and the American way of life.
