Letter: US must get real in defeating Islam
It is abundantly clear that not all the presidential candidates have figured out who the main enemy to world peace and American safety and security is. It's not ISIS. It's Islam.
No, not "radical Islam." Islam proper. The radicals are the head of the snake, the dangerous part.
However, the head cannot exist without the body, the rest of Islam, which largely remains silent when the atrocities are committed by the extremists.
Jihad is jihad. It is part and parcel of the Islamic faith. Many, if not most of them, believe that their religion is the only one that should be allowed on the face of the earth.
If America forgets that, because of political correctness, it is in mortal danger. If we don't stop trying to equate Islam with all the other religions, we will never be able to prevent its ultimate goal, a world dominated by Sharia law.
A statement by Donald Trump stands out: "So, they can kill us, but we can't kill them?" We must understand that total war is just that. Between adversaries in such a conflict there are no noncombatants. Islamic extremists understand that. We must as well.
We didn't win World War II by surgically striking only military targets. We bombed Germany and Japan flat. There were hundreds of thousands of civilian casualties. The Allies didn't start that war, but they finished it. A history lesson the American people, and the politicians who lead them, had better learn, and quick.
