Letter: Sheriff Tanner does job right on Ironman

With all of the criticism of government agencies and employees these days, it appears to me that Beaufort County Sheriff P.J. Tanner did his job with respect to the Ironman negotiations.

As a public servant responsible for our safety, he expressed safety concerns with the triathlon race.

In addition, he wanted citizens to know about the negotiations rather than having them conducted in secret. Usually when facts are presented and openly debated, the best decision is made. I believe the Ironman made the right decision to switch to a different location.
