Letter: Be more honest about impact fees

Regarding the article about Beaufort County impact fees, why can't we address this correctly? It is a tax, and referring to it as a fee is misleading at best.

Secondly, when I built a home and paid this tax, neither I, my County Council representative or the council chairman could confirm that this tax is being earmarked and used as originally intended to fund libraries, parks, roads and docks in the district where the tax is assessed.

Apparently, over time, amendments and agreements have just rolled this tax into general revenue. Call it a tax and designate the funds where originally intended.
