Letter: Real pro-life people not the violent ones

There have been several references in the news recently to "violent pro-life extremists." People who commit murder of abortion doctors and workers are not pro-life, they are murderers.

We have been praying and offering help and support to women outside abortion mills for 15 years in Massachusetts, Connecticut and Georgia. Our prayer vigils are peaceful and are attended by real pro-life people from area churches of several different denominations.

Violent people have never been part of our prayerful group. We are friendly and cordial to the abortion workers and their clients, and we pray for them, too.

We have often been harassed and threatened by passersby as we stood peacefully praying. It would be easy to stay home rather than stand for hours on the sidewalk, but we are Christians who believe help and kindness should be offered to women in need.

There are many pro-life pregnancy organizations that offer extensive help to women at no cost to them. We support these organizations, and we give women information about them so they will know that there are alternatives to abortion. This is what real pro-life people do.
