Letter: Government fails to protect the public
How many more attacks will it take, how many more people have to die, before our elected officials take the threat of terrorism in the United States seriously?
All the facts have yet to be determined, but it doesn't take a rocket scientist to understand that the couple in the San Bernardino killings had become radicalized. All the earmarks are there.
The government says it can protect us, but so far its claims are an abysmal failure.
These two go in to a room of defenseless people and gun them down. I'm sure the current administration, particularly our president and secretary of state, are going to jump up on the soap box proclaiming the need for "reasonable measures," i.e., gun control.
Well, these terrorists had guns, the dead people didn't and couldn't legally have them there. When are we going to wake up to the fact that the government won't protect us and is unwilling to let us protect ourselves?
Until this threat is genuinely addressed, these incidents are only going to continue and escalate.
