Letter: Stem heavy flow from Muslim world

It always amazes me how seemingly intelligent people distort facts and proven statistics to try and spread their liberal, "feel good" mentality. Why do they belittle others who realize the dangers in our country as a result of no border protection? What are they thinking?

For some inexplicable reason, President Barack Obama has invited 680,000 immigrants from Muslim-majority countries in the five-year period from 2009 to 2013 (including 83,000 from Pakistan and 83,000 from Iraq). They all have green cards. This gives them a pathway to citizenship and eligibility for government benefits. Now he wants more. Why?

Perhaps because he had two Muslim father figures. Or, it may be for some other reason. Why are most of today's refugees men of military age? Why aren't they back in their own countries, defending their families and land?

None of the Irish, Germans, Jews or any other groups of migrants, came here criticizing our culture, religions or lifestyle. Most were just glad to be here. They assimilated and became citizens, respecting our country and laws.

What will it take, another 9/11, to wake up the politically correct? If they only knew how foolish they sounded.

The No. 1 job of a government is to protect its people. Let's not criticize the governors who are trying to do just that. Instead, let's appreciate their caution and reason and give them our support.
