Letter: Mass media exposure could aid the terrorists
I am sure Abdelhamid Abasoud, the presumed mastermind of the Paris terror attacks, was jubilant and delighted that his photograph appeared on the front page of American newspapers, including The Beaufort Gazette.
Maybe the goal, or part of the goal, of these terrorists is precisely to see how much they can build up their egos with the fame and notoriety they get from a cooperating media.
But the public wants to know, so there is a quandary. However, I suppose the press must serve the public, regardless of collateral consequences. It's doubtless good for circulation too.

Editor's note: Abasoud is believed to have been killed in a French raid in November.
