Letter: Keep golf cart slots open for golf carts
A lot of Sun City residents use golf carts to get their groceries at the Food Lion store. Several of these elderly residents have disabilities. The problem is that cars and pickup trucks park in the golf-cart-only and golf cart handicapped spots.
There are always people parking their cars in these spots because they are close to the store. They are close to the store because they are handicapped spots.
I asked one person parked there if he was aware that these were handicapped golf cart spots. The reply was to keep my mouth shut. One told me to go back to New Jersey. I don't come from New Jersey.
The store manager says he's called several times. He has to call the sheriff's office, which has limited cars, so may have more important things to look after. Maybe they do, but an occasional police presence might help make these spots more available to those people they were meant for. Shame.
