Letter: 'Courage' of Congress can be dangerous

You have to admire Congress for its courage. Immigration has finally been stopped. Had they only been around when the Pilgrims where facing persecution we wouldn't have this nonsense about religious freedom and personal liberty and property rights and, more importantly, this nonsense about Thanksgiving.

If we hadn't let the Jews and German people in, we wouldn't have this dangerous thing called science and nuclear power, and let's not forget the Irish with Kennedy and Reagan and the embarrassment they have caused, not to mention the Chinese and the building of the railroads from coast to coast, and who needs Chinese food anyway?

In a way, Congress is right. Through our responsible laws on gun control we have enough homegrown threats right here who, while being on an FBI watch list and not able to fly, can still go to any gun show and purchase a weapon, any day, any time.

But let's close our borders off to Syrian families who have risked their lives to escape the tyranny of the anarchy precipitated by our invasion of Iraq.

You really have to admire the courage it must have taken to finally get a bipartisan bill through the House.
