Letter: Silicon Valley should help in war on terror

We hear that ISIS uses social media in brainwashing young Muslims to advance their cause of world domination under Sharia law. As an older person who does not use social media but who does use an iPad and smartphone, before today I thought that there should be ways to counteract and disrupt this social media. Where is Silicon Valley and America's IT brain power in disrupting and counteracting ISIS' social media?

In the aftermath of the Paris massacre, I hear Democratic Sen. Dianne Feinstein of California say that ISIS has encrypted apps that right now cannot be disrupted. She said she has approached the Silicon Valley titans, and they refuse or cannot help in this plight to disrupt ISIS IT. People who want us back in the caveman era can manipulate IT better than the titans of Facebook, LinkedIn, Apple, Microsoft and computer war games?

As in World War II, we are all in this together. Should this be true, I hope Silicon Valley gets its act together.
