Letter: Hilton Head's flaw: Noisy leaf blowers

For several years, my wife and I have been renting a villa on Hilton Head Island during winter months. We love the island and the well-designed development here. But there is one very big annoyance: the noise pollution from the leaf blowers.

Life on Hilton Head would be much improved for residents and visitors if workers would use rakes or push brooms and remove the leaf litter rather than blow it around with those noisy, gas-powered engines.

If there's an institutionalized need to perpetually blow leaves back and forth, at least install mufflers on those noisy machines.
