Letter: 2 who could give conservatives chance
There is a lot of emphasis on polls today, but the only poll that will matter in 2016 is the final Electoral College poll. Republicans and conservatives can only win that poll if they carry not just the conservative states but at least two of the three major swing states -- Florida, Virginia and Ohio.
The historic record is clear.
In the field of current conservative candidates, there are two who can carry at least two of those states and also broaden the base of support for a new direction for the nation. They are John Kasich and Marco Rubio. Both are proven conservatives and have solid records and are the nightmare team for Democrats.
Rest assured, those swing states and many others will not be carried against Hillary Clinton by an egocentric TV show actor who has been a major supporter of liberal positions in the past.
The other Republican leader in current polls is a really nice and intelligent neurosurgeon, but the presidency is not an entry-level position, as the last six-plus years have demonstrated. He also will not bring any outside constituency to the voting booths next November.
We need a leader with vision and a record who can work with others. It is time for conservatives to stop shouting and start winning the presidency for the sake of our country and the future of our children and grandchildren.
